Artist's Statement
Ever since I was little, my family would always take pictures. Whether it be at a birthday party, Christmas, or any little moment that we would want to capture, we would take the picture. I have always loved looking at older pictures of my family and looking through the ones we just took moments before. I loved looking at pictures of nature, people, or even objects.
I soon realized that I loved taking pictures with my mom's camera, so I finally asked for a camera for Christmas. I began taking pictures with my little Disney digital camera that my sister and I received one year for Christmas, even if they were just "selfies" or pictures of my dogs. It was always just fun to run around the house or outside and take tons of pictures. Taking pictures has always made me feel artistic, I was never able to draw and I still cannot draw to save my life.
Going into high school, I knew I would want to take every photography class that I could take in my four short years. My freshman year, I was hesitant to take photography and graphic arts because I did not want to mess up, I wanted to be perfect with taking film pictures and developing them. Also, I wanted to be perfect with taking digital photos. But it was then that I realized that you cannot be perfect with everything, you have to learn different techniques, and I was up to that challenge.
Presently, I am a sophomore at Pickerington High School Central! I am in Advanced Photography, which is my third semester of photography in my high school career. My first semester of being a sophomore, felt as if it took forever to end because I did not have any sort of photography since the last semester of my freshman year. I was so ecstatic when second semester finally came because I knew photography was one of my classes!
